Back in January, Rich Aurilia and the Reds got together on a low-cost contract that gave both parties what they wanted.

For the team, that was an affordable veteran option in the infield. For the player, it was an opportunity to demonstrate he could be a useful commodity after the worst season of his career. The union proved to be mutually beneficial, as Aurilia recovered from a slow start to hit .282 with 14 home runs and 68 RBIs in 114 games at second base, shortstop and third base.

It was a pretty nice return on a $600,000 investment, but it doesn't appear a return engagement is in the works.
