View Full Version : zito pac4eva5 10-28-2005, 06:05 PM will he be back??? Boltdiehard 10-28-2005, 08:11 PM After what Billy Beane did last offseason nothing would surprise me. I'll be the first to admit that I was down on Zito BIGTIME before the season started. IMO, Beane would be crazy to trade him, especially after the way Zito took Haren under his wing. We have to have at least one vet for these youngsters. Boltdiehard 10-28-2005, 08:19 PM One more thing: Watching the White Sox celebrate was tough. We took 7 out of 9 from those guys this year and our teams are very comparable i.e. no .300 hitters, so-so power and strong starting pitching. The difference? Ozzie Guillen played aggressive baseball, especially on the basepaths. It's time for the A's to spend a couple bucks, go get the right handed power hitter and let's make a serious run, moneyball be damned. pac4eva5 10-28-2005, 10:54 PM One more thing: Watching the White Sox celebrate was tough. RandyTheRaider 10-29-2005, 02:21 AM zito is the man he will be back UC 10-29-2005, 03:38 PM I do not think we can "afford" to lose Zito :D I think we need that right handed bat, our starting pitching is looking good. I hope Saarloos comes back for the #5 starter spot or long reliever because he had a great year. All signs point to him coming back because he is not eligible for salary arbitration. Durazo looks like he is as good as gone. I hope Hatteberg remains as a part time DH, reserve, and pinch hitter. The guy is clutch. I look forward to seeing Nick Swisher develop along with Crosby. Crosby needs to stay healthy because we were a much better team with his right handed bat in the line up. Scutaro is a great back up and I am not sure of his status for next season. Dan Johnson faded toward the end of the season but he should come back strong. He is a pretty good prospect at first base. He has a knack of getting the bat on the damn ball and he has some power. Blanton should look great next season. I was really impressed with his composure after a horrible start. He ended up pitching over 200 innings which is amazing for a rookie who has never pitched this long of a season before. Huston Street... what can I say? Wow. Hopefully he keeps up his play from last season next season. Ahhh.... The A's. I could go on forever with random thoughts, but my rambling will end here for now. Boltdiehard 10-29-2005, 06:58 PM Remember Blanton had a ton of tough luck losses as well. UC 10-30-2005, 12:15 AM Remember Blanton had a ton of tough luck losses as well. He sure as hell did... he got the Hudson run support  Boltdiehard 10-30-2005, 09:37 AM He sure as hell did... he got the Hudson run support  Exactly. Not only that, he shut down some potent offenses in the process. The kid has ice running through his veins man. If we can just get some right handed pop I'll be real excited for this year. Word is the Angels are going to make a strong run for Konerko. BTW, have you ever seen a bigger bandwagon fanbase than Angels fans? I've been going to A's games for a long time and now all of the sudden there's actually Angels fans at the games? They're almost as bad as SF Giants fans. raiderroo 11-01-2005, 10:06 AM I hope Zito doesnt gobut I wouldnt be surprised if he got traded. I agree with Bolt we need that right handed power bat in there. I dont know who are how we can get it but we do need it. UC 11-02-2005, 12:53 AM If Zito were to leave that would take away the veteran presence from our starting rotation. RaiderSithLord 12-08-2005, 04:39 AM We really need the Zman for his expierence. Come on, Wolfe pony up the cash to extend Zman. |
