Hawaiian Raider

The 5 Warriors selected this past draft were the most since the draft reduced to 7-rounds. 5 more signed UDFAs deals. Back-up RB Reagan Mauai of the Dolphins has already inked a 4-year deal. Center Samson Satele is challenging for the start. As is DE Ikaika Alama-Francis of the Lions.
The Warriors season could be a big one. There's some problems so, we can only go out and let the chips fall where they may.
The season rides on the shoulders of Heisman candidate at QB, Colt Brennan. Leading the nation in 6-categories last season, including a whopping 185 rating, the pressure is on.
The Warriors have never really been "road" ones, with last season's road record of 3-2 more of an abberation. And the WAC is what it is, all offense so, all offense. The road-games will be a good gauge on the ranking of this team. They follow their season home-opener against FCS school Northern Colorado, with back-to-back road games @ LaTech, where Colt and the Warriors lost the last time they were there, and @ UNLV - which is Vegas, the place anything can happen, and the Warriors don't win much there either. And then there's @ San Jose St., a nationally televised-game with ex-Warrior coach and defensive guru Dick Tomey at the helm for the Spartans. Finally, @ Nevada, one of 4 WAC teams that went Bowling last Season. Inter-Conference games are always tough. This season, we have Fresno St. and Boise St. coming to the Luau. We're counting it as the year we finally get over the hump and take out the Broncos. It came down to the wire last season on the blue turf.
As far as Colt goes, there's no denying the QB rating. It is what it is, regardless of the "system" - one of the many knocks against Colt. His character will still be questioned due to an earlier incident when he was 19 (in which he's been adjudicated - paid his debt to society), but in the Islands as he put it, "I like the person I've become here", and so do the locals. Colt is a state figure-head now, causing a big up-roar and special legislative session with his gripe about the conditions of the athletic department - "no soap in the showers", he complained. (BTW - boxes and boxes of soap showed up the next day, donated by the citizens). Otherwise, as far as his skills go - the QB rating is what it is - hard to argue against. However, I think his size will be his biggest obstacle at the next level. At spring-camp, he reported bulked up to 205 lbs., again - bulked up to. He barely makes 6-3 in height. Meanwhile, time will tell. Keep a side-eye on Colt Brennan this season as this nation's top college footballers are talked about.
I'll update this thread with info as it comes along. Hopefully, this turns into a thread for fans, but it's a message board, so if you're here to bash then ... .
