View Full Version : Heath Miller for ROY

The Monday night game in Heinz Field pitting the Steelers against the Baltimore Ravens once again will feature the kind of scoring threat at tight end the home team has lacked for most of the franchise's history.
Todd Heap of the Ravens? Well, yes, but this time even he will take a back seat to that most rare of commodities, a productive tight end wearing a Steelers uniform.
Rookie Heath Miller has surpassed some of the game's biggest names at his position -- Heap, Tony Gonzalez and Antonio Gates -- to tie as the highest-scoring tight end in the NFL.

Carnell is injured though that could hold him back.
I'd give rookie of the year to Miller, hes playing as an elite TE already, either him or maybe Ronnie Brown will sneak up and take it.
DROY will go to either Odell, Ware, maybe Morrison, DJ, or Rolle.

For DROY...Kirk Morrison :D
i agree
I dont give a damn if Kirk Morrison wins the Noble Peace Prize or ROY. As stated earlier, the ROY is no more than a popularity contest.
Cadillac was tearin it up before he missed the past few weeks due to injury...

Heath Miller gets my vote. The Steelers have drafted well over the past few years.

Before the games today Ditka was praising Miller, and the Steelers coaches for changing the playbook to get him involved... Then all of the sudden he says Heath is the best blocking TE in the league. Ditka knows a little bit about TE's... he also compared him to Mark Bavaro.

Heath Miller had two TD catches last night... that gives him six on the year, and the most in a rookie's first eight games since 1954. I read somewhere that the NFL is gonna change the name of the area inside the 20 yard line from the "red-zone" to the "Heathzone". Stay tuned...

Hijackers... Miller will be considered if he keeps it up.. His yardage isnt incredible though... He only has 19 rec for 200 yards.. 4 of those catches are +20 yds. But 6 tds does tie the lead with Antonio Gates.. Who has 575 yds, 43 rec
But still nonetheless it depends on the competition.. If carnell comes back like he started, miller just isnt going to get it

i'd go with Heath Miller, before he entered the draft the bar was set high for him and he met the standards.. he makes that Steelers offense more explosive.

Heath named Rookie of the Month
On Sunday, Mike Ditka, a Hall of Fame tight end himself, called Heath Miller the NFL’s best tight end, on ESPN’s Sunday Countdown.
On Monday night, Miller caught two touchdown passes from Ben Roethlisberger to help the Steelers defeat the Ravens, 20-19.
And on Wednesday, Miller will be announced as the NFL Rookie of the Month for October.
Miller caught 17 passes for 184 yards (10.8 avg.) and five touchdowns during October, and he has a streak of four straight games with a TD reception to tie the team record for tight ends set by Eric Green in 1991.
"He has replaced (Plaxico) Burress in the red zone," said Ditka on ESPN. "This guy is the real deal. Everybody looks at him as a great receiver. He’s the best blocking tight end in football right now. He does everything. He’s the total package, and the Pittsburgh Steelers are going to get terrific mileage out of him."
