ZURICH, Switzerland (AP) - Asafa Powell of Jamaica equaled his own 100-meter world record of 9.77 seconds at the Weltklasse Golden League meeting on Friday night.
It marks the third time Powell has clocked 9.77.
Powell set the world record in Athens in 2004 and was equaled by Justin Gatlin in May. Powell matched it again a month later in Gateshead.
Gatlin was absent from Weltklasse after testing positive for doping following a relay race in April. If Gatlin is proven guilty, his world record would be stripped.
Powell is among nine athletes fighting for a share in the million dollar Golden League jackpot.
