Hey gang,

Let's vote on this, and see what happens. There's a variety of sports forums located right here at FanPass.net, but what about Mixed Martial Arts?

My idea is that BK start a seperate forum dedicated to the MMA. With sub-forums of UFC, Pride, & General MMA Talk.

How many are in favor of this? Please vote!

not true, majority of the posters on fanpass come from the RFnet boards, and the MMA threads are pretty popular over there.. a lot more popular then college ball or hocket, in fact i'd say its tied for 2nd in most popular sports thread other then football obviously.

True. MMA is pretty popular over at RF.Net, I don't recall an "Official NHL Thread" over there still in existence.

What was wrong with Solomons brain?

For the record, Solomon is a Raider fan and the problem with Solomon was cardio.. he had no stamina and Shamrocks weak training had a bit to do with it too.. when u take a hit to the head like that gassed... your gonna get knocked out, Solomon is a pretty good fighter and def. a better fighter then sloppy Rory, but hes not in the best shape... a lot of the TUF guys arent.

AudieMurphy1
05-24-2006, 10:17 AM
dont get me wrong, i liked soloman, and he's a pretty good fighter and tuff but lets be honest, he's not the sharpest tool in the shed, and it cost him that fight, he should have never gotten that aggresive with the way that fight had gone, he had it in the bag, oh and i cant stand rory, i hope someone gives it to him good!

IMO, thats what had him winning the fight... his boy Kendall and Shamrock called it right, a street fight = Solomon wins which he was winning, but when u gas like that its easy to get knocked out, while Solomon made the right move to defend the leg kick.. he was too tired to pull it off and got caught with a knee, and knocked out he was! well we all know Rory isnt winnin it all so hopefully we see a Solomon-Rory rematch as a prelim. bout at the finale, and we all know the Raider fan will win that rematch.

if it were pride it would of been an uglier fight, did you see Ed holdin back those knees when he was in side guard? I could see him wantin to throw some knees and who can blame him. Danny was lost though.. I saw many times where he could of capitalized on something from the bottom but didnt.. he just took a beating for 3 Mins, got up, yelled im an ultimate fighter then went home.. called it a day!

and that its illegal to knee a downed opponent in the UFC, but yea Eds trained with Randy Couture.. thats no joke to train with hes got a good chance at winning it all but my pick remains the Canadian beast Kalib Starnes! Watch hes gonn win it all, Bisping will DEFINENTLY win the LHW the kid is probably pound for pound the best in any TUF show, no one comes close to his sprawl, his speed combined with his strength.. its gonna be hard for anyone to beat that guy... some guys forget that its fighting but Bisping surely doesnt.. the kid fights, and fights well.

Why is Matt Hughes a hypocrite? Why do you feel that way? What has he done to make you think he's a hypocrite? How is it that you know that '95% of the MMA world hates his ass.'? I'm just curios.

I'm not so concerned with why you think he's a joke, I'm really wanting to know the hypocritical part.

cuz I talk to a lot of MMA fans and they hate him mainly because hes a dick, hes a hypocrit for getting on Rashad Evans case for showboating when we all know that bs he does when he carries someone half way across the ring is showboating as well, Matt Hughes is a dick plain and simple, great fighter what a sh!tty person.

So, what you're saying is that GSP has learned more and grown more than Matt since the first time they fought, which Matt won by the way. For those that didn't know, GSP made a mistake and Matt capitalized on it, much the same way BJ Penn capitalized on Matt's mistake.

BJ Penn not only capitalized, hes a better all-around fighter.. his standup game is much better then Matts and he has the edge on the ground.

GSP is considered possibly one of the best P4P fighters, a lot of people feel hes gonna beat Matt.. he was winning the first fight up until the submission, a mistake that he wont make again.. GSP is the one fighter that Hughes cant overpower and he wont beat him standing up. Overall he will struggle to take GSP to the ground and if Matt cant take him to the ground he cant win the fight. GSP will be the next champ come September.

MasterShake2388
05-31-2006, 05:43 PM
Btw, what mistake did Matt make? Penn dominated every second of that fight. It wasnt a MISTAKE that GSP made, its more like he was overwhelmed.. I saw instences in the fight that could of gave him the win.. mainly the spinning back kick that knocked hughes off his feet.. easily GSP could of hit a flying knee and got the TKO from there but didnt, he admits to being too tantive and thats whats gonna make a difference in the 2nd fight.. GSP has more experience, hes knocked off the nervousness, and hes gonna express his will on Matt Hughes

Matt Hughes struggled to keep GSP down, he doesnt stand a chance in the stand-up game, GSP can take Matt down as easily as Matt can take him down.. difference is GSP can keep Matt down.

What's the difference between the Penn/Hughes domination and Hughes/Gracie domination? If you say that Hughes was dominated by Penn every second of that fight, how can you NOT say Gracie was dominated by Hughes every second of thier fight? Because of a little cut lip?

I feel that Matt didn't take Penn seriously. After his first fight with Trigg Matt was asked about Penn and his answer was indicative of his performance.

Matt is currently 39-4 and he's 3-0 since the last time they fought. GSP is currently 12-1 and an impressive 5-0 since the last time they fought. You say that GSP is more experienced? More experienced than Matt, or more experienced than he was the last time he fought Hughes? If it's the latter and not the former, then how is that Matt has not gained any experience, heck he beat a fighter that you yourself said he wouldn't beat in Gracie (unless I'm mistaken and you thought that Matt would win.....I can't remember.)

I know you don't like Matt as a person, but you seem to be contradicting yourself in some of the statements.

When did I say that Gracie didnt get dominated? he did! but it means nothing! he dominated a 39 year old Gracie who hasnt fought in the UFC for years! I cheered for him and so did many others but no one really thought he would win.. and GSP is more experienced since the last fight, and if Hughes takes Penn seriously he still gets beat.. I doubt Hughes ever beats Penn, hes 10 x the striker he is and when it comes down to it Penn has a distinct advantage on the ground since hes a BJJ fighter and Matt is a wrestler, there lies Matts problem against BJJ fighters.. how can he submit a BJJ fighter with there own move? its hard when they know what there doin' and guys like Penn and GSP he struggles against to take down and keep down, so he ends up on his feet longer then he wants to and takin blows, then eventually he gets taken down and beaten... only in the Penn fight it wasnt eventually it was more like as soon as the bell ring.. and the fight ended before the bell rang again I expect GSP to do the same to Hughes.

Your first question really had me.....I thought I had you confused with someone else that I had corresponded with regarding the fight, but.......

Quoted from your PM to me @ RF.Net when I asked you about Hughes' total domination of Royce Gracie -

Gracie is one of the best to ever fight, hes still a legend and losing to a great fighter like Matt means nothing.. Matt is in his prime and one of the best. Gracie has more of a mixed portion in his arsenal then Chuck Liddell has. It wasnt a domination, Gracie wasnt bleeding or anything but it was a clear win, kind of like Ed vs Danny on TUF

Hughes tried to submit him but couldnt lock the submission in.. after that Gracie gave up his back and Matt poured down punches, the fight was stopped and no one was hurt.. no big deal,...

"No one thought he would win?"

Read my post, I was gunnin for Gracie I wanted him to win but deep down I had a feeling he wouldnt.. in a rematch id put my money on Gracie again! 10 out of 10 times id put my money on Gracie.. I dont care if hes taking on 10 Matt Hughes at once ill still put my money on Gracie! hes done more for the business in one day then Matt Hughes has done his whole career, hes a legend and Hughes proved nothing by beating him.. Hughes is still on the verge of losing his title.

Overall ill never pick an ASSHOLE like Hughes over a LEGEND like Gracie.
