Sean Jensen, of the Pioneer Press, reports the agent for receiver Minnesota Vikings WR Nate Burleson said his efforts this week to work out a long-term extension for his client were rebuffed by the Vikings. "Nate Burleson would like to end his career with the Vikings, and we submitted something that was fair and comparable with No. 1 receivers with his age and experience," said Jack Scharf, an agent for Momentum Sports, based in San Antonio. "But the contract proposal we submitted wasn't received in the manner that we hoped or expected. Rob Brzezinski, the Vikings' vice president of football operations, declined comment. Burleson is in the last year of his contract and will he will become a restricted free agent in 2006. "In their mind, Nate has 1.5 years left in Minnesota," Scharf said, referring to the team's assumption that he will be back next season with a one-year qualifying offer. "What they don't want to face is there are 31 other teams that would potentially be interested in Nate Burleson."
