WonderSlug 10-27-2005, 12:38 PM Oben gets a few more years while we groom a replacement. Nice. Boltdiehard 10-27-2005, 02:42 PM One of these days the Chargers will actually use a high draft pick on a O-Lineman. I doubt we will keep finding guys like Olivea. Compubolt 10-27-2005, 02:44 PM We need to look hard at OLT this draft, there is going to be alot of O-line beef in the draft, alond with LB's, two places I think we can upgrade at if godfrey retires. I would want the first used on o-line but AJ Hawk would not bother me either. ncraider84 10-27-2005, 02:49 PM We need to look hard at OLT this draft, there is going to be alot of O-line beef in the draft, alond with LB's, two places I think we can upgrade at if godfrey retires. I would want the first used on o-line but AJ Hawk would not bother me either. Hawk wouldn't bother most people but I thought you guys were loaded at OLB with Leber, Foley, and Merriman. Unless, you want to move him inside which wouldn't be a bad idea, either. WonderSlug 10-27-2005, 02:49 PM I would like us to use our first 3 picks for OL. If we end up trading Rivers to some team for a first rounder in the top 10, I'd like to use that to get Ngata from Utah to rotate NT duties with Jamal. Compubolt 10-27-2005, 03:41 PM Hawk wouldn't bother most people but I thought you guys were loaded at OLB with Leber, Foley, and Merriman. Unless, you want to move him inside which wouldn't be a bad idea, either. I want to put him at Mike, he would be a great replacement for godfeey or donnie. I doubt we will get him and yeah we got OLB on lock down right now., ncraider84 10-27-2005, 03:51 PM I want to put him at Mike, he would be a great replacement for godfeey or donnie. I doubt we will get him and yeah we got OLB on lock down right now., Gotcha, I just can't see Hawk lasting that long on the board. You could have a shot at Sims, Hodge, Jackson, so you could still find talented backers. Compubolt 10-27-2005, 03:55 PM Gotcha, I just can't see Hawk lasting that long on the board. You could have a shot at Sims, Hodge, Jackson, so you could still find talented backers. Yeah, l would doubt we could get him without trading rivers to the cards or 9ers really. My wants are a NT and OLT, then MLB in the second or third round. ncraider84 10-27-2005, 04:07 PM Yeah, l would doubt we could get him without trading rivers to the cards or 9ers really. My wants are a NT and OLT, then MLB in the second or third round. I figured the Bolts might be going after help in the secondary this year. I know you've picked up a few DBs in recent years.....but not all of them have panned out. I was never a huge fan of Jammer. Some of the faithful bolt posters on the Raiders site mentioned maybe he could be moved to FS. You think that might be his future? Compubolt 10-27-2005, 04:18 PM I figured the Bolts might be going after help in the secondary this year. I know you've picked up a few DBs in recent years.....but not all of them have panned out. I was never a huge fan of Jammer. Some of the faithful bolt posters on the Raiders site mentioned maybe he could be moved to FS. You think that might be his future? Nope, Jammer is not a ball hawk, i think Jue has really started to show what he's worth, the Raider game he really lit you guys up and he is sttarting to set the tone for the DB's. In the Iggle game, he caused a INT with a big hit. Jammer is going to get better, he has really locked his side down this year and I see us resigning him. We need to concentrate on the lines this yr, no more freeking DB's. Jammer/flo/fletch are ourr starting 3. We need a NT and MLB on D and OLT and OG on offense. ncraider84 10-28-2005, 10:06 AM I would like us to use our first 3 picks for OL. If we end up trading Rivers to some team for a first rounder in the top 10, I'd like to use that to get Ngata from Utah to rotate NT duties with Jamal. I just can't see some team giving up a first rounder for Rivers. Especially, in the top ten. Also, you have to factor in there will be some QBs possibly hitting FA this year i.e. Patrick Ramsey, the Lions appear to have given up on Harrington, etc. Then, look at the QBs in the draft. You have Leinart....possibly a Marcus Vick, Young, Jabcobs, Quinn, and Drew Stanton just to name a few. Granted, some of those guys may opt to go back for their senior year. Why give up a first rounder for Rivers when you could draft or fill that need via FA? I don't think you guys will get equal value in a trade unless someone gets desperate. ncraider84 10-28-2005, 10:12 AM Nope, Jammer is not a ball hawk, i think Jue has really started to show what he's worth, the Raider game he really lit you guys up and he is sttarting to set the tone for the DB's. I disagree with Jammer playing better this year. I think he's actually gotten worse and it appears to be rubbing off on Florence. Both CBs tend to do a lot of grabbing and holding, which thanks to the Pats is a big no-no now. That Raider game was a complete disgrace! No one showed up that day and Oakland had two weeks to prepare... You say the DBs have gotten better but in the games I've watched this year.....they are the ones that continue to hurt you guys! Giving up big plays, costly penalties, and missed tackles..... Compubolt 10-28-2005, 10:18 AM IMO, Jammer isn't much of anything! I disagree with Jammer playing better this year. Giving up big plays, costly penalties, and missed tackles..... Its all relative, Jammer was giving up multiple PI's and getting burned deep all last yr. This yr he hasn't been burned deep once, 4 deep balls completed on him but not getting burned like last yr, as for PI's he has gotten better, he only had one in the first Q in the philly game thats it. Each game he gets better at it. He has gotten better but I think alot has to do with coaching to, they need to teach him to look for the ball, but getting a FS that is starting to play better he is locking his side down more now. D-flo he needs to learn to play a zone scheme, he takes to many chances and does not wrap up on tackles. He can NOT tackle, he gets picked on most the game, he is not as good as jammer is, he is just good a catching the ball but jammer is much more consistent. I think fletcher is coming on for us, he plays zone very well, he knows his place also. You are right, they are our weakest link, they get passed on consistantly, but since ppl can't run on us, they pass, mostly what open are short crossing routes below the safteys and above the LB's, the CB have been really getting better and keeping the passes allowed down. They give up passes but not as many TD's as last year. They are iomproving same as our pass rush is. Look at the first two passes in the raider game, they both should have been INT's but Hart didn't catch the ball that hit him in the face. ncraider84 10-28-2005, 10:27 AM Its all relative, Jammer was giving up multiple PI's and getting burned deep all last yr. I wouldn't say people can't run on you because Dallas and Pitt did a decent job of it. But I would opt for the pass first and run second. Use the pass to setup the run. Why run when you can throw and receive less resistance? It's simple, find a weakness and exploit it! I guess that's why Hart is a DB and not a receiver, those were easy INTs. I recall your secondary having a few penalties in the Pitt/Dallas games. Florence, Jue, nor Jammer looked very good trying to come up from the secondary or in coverage. Jue let Miller come right across his face in the redzone for the TD and he never moved until the ball was on the receiver's fingertips. Jammer had how many chances trying to bring down Ward on the TD that was called back..... I was surprised that Marty decided to sit on the lead in the Oakland game. I figured as much as he hates Oakland, he would run it up! Compubolt 10-28-2005, 10:42 AM I wouldn't say people can't run on you because Dallas and Pitt did a decent job of it. The miller one I would put half on Jue and half on edwards, he had underneath coverage, but Jue is new to the team and needs work, but its better then wilson was last yr thats for sure. The dallas game was BAD for penalties, I mean HORRIBLE. the pit game was not as bad, but our secondary was getting owned, we had no push on ben all game. Jammer is always close, he is a solid/good CB, unfortunately he may be the best CB we have. ppl can run on us, just not great, the we problems totally stopping the bigger backs like the bus, but smaller guys we can stuff. The only saving grace is no matter how much someone passes, we don't always give up 7. Even though in the gnat game manning had a career game, he got shut out in the second half. Personally I want to grab a FA CB vet next season to help these guys learn to play well, but jammer is a FA at the end of the season so its put up or walk time for him. ncraider84 10-28-2005, 10:46 AM The miller one I would put half on Jue and half on edwards, he had underneath coverage, but Jue is new to the team and needs work, but its better then wilson was last yr thats for sure. Do you have any extra day one draft picks this year? Or, were all the Manning picks for this year? You are the first Bolt poster, Ive seen defend Jammer on his play this year. We come across a few on another site but they always trash him and talk-up Florence. Compubolt 10-28-2005, 10:57 AM Do you have any extra day one draft picks this year? I think we are out of manningg picks, it was river, Merriman and Keading that were bascially for Manning. ncraider84 10-28-2005, 11:06 AM Thanks for the info  That trade still doesn't make sense. The Giants gave up a lot to get Manning. He's improving and playing better this year but they still have a lot of holes to fill and those picks could've helped. Not to mention, it just loaded you guys with some serious talent for years to come! We could use another Gruden deal to come along..... Compubolt 10-28-2005, 11:08 AM Thanks for the info  what do you see you guys drafting this yr? Or i should say who/what do you wantt drafted? ncraider84 10-28-2005, 11:19 AM what do you see you guys drafting this yr? Or i should say who/what do you wantt drafted? Oh man, I hope you are comfortable because we could discuss this all day! I'm hoping Oakland addresses the needs for a true OLB that can play everydown. We're not going back to the 3-4, so no real need for a tweener prospect. I like a few guys like Hawk, Sims, Greenway,Howard, Ryans, Jackson or Carpenter. I know some of these guys may play inside but we've done a good job converting a Mike in Morrison to OLB and he's leading Oakland in tackles as a rookie, not bad. Also, we need another pass rusher opposite of Burgess. Guys like Mario Williams, Mathias, Wimbley, MacDonald, and Dumerville come to mind. We've lacked a true pass rusher for so long, now we have one in Burgess but you can never have enough rushers, IMO. SS-I've said it many times. It's clear I am not a fan of Derrick Gibson and we need an enforcer back there. Someone that can come up in run defense, cover in open space, a sure tackler, and someone that can play a little man. Having another pass rusher will help the secondary tremendously! Guard- Oakland can use two young mauling guards that are athletic enough to pull and get to the edge. Walker isn't the answer inside and Stone will most likely be gone after this year. DT-Sapp has shown he has a little left in the tank and is playing very well this year. He's been getting penetration in the backfield and showing some quickness to the QB. However, Big Ted might not last much longer. We could use a stud NT. * Taking a breath *.........what about you guys? I can go on but I'll stop there for now. Well what we want from the draft is just sooo relative to who posts it. for me my priorities are : O-line, MLB, NT, D-line I am very impressed with morrison, he was a steal for you guys. I want more talent on our O-line, but we need a backup NT for jamal just in case, then we also need a replacemrnt for godfrey if he retires but I think that Wilhelm may be able to supplant him, we will see. One of our posters at SDUT, SDR is a huge draft nut, I am going to start copying and posting his stuff here. ncraider84 10-28-2005, 11:34 AM Well what we want from the draft is just sooo relative to who posts it. for me my priorities are : O-line, MLB, NT, D-line I am very impressed with morrison, he was a steal for you guys. I read somewhere that contract talks with him were broken off and he is listed to be a FA at the end of the year but I thought he was solid. What about a receiver? Keenan is getting up there and I'm not sold on Caldwell being a # 1. Yes, you have Vincent Jackson but he's going to take a few years to develop. WR is a need, but I can waitt one more yr to draft a high rounder. I want more defense out O can get it done, especially if the D stops everyone. Fonoti, the trade in the short term was bad, we need to depth, long term its good since we got a pick for someone we were not going to resign. But he was a head case. He came into camp late every yr, always over weight. If we paid him at the end of the yr, I think he would just become a totaly turd, maybe with us shipping him off somefire will get lit and he will improve his atatitude. Going on Ir 2 seasons ago killed him , he never reall reocvered mentally from it, he had family issues, he is over 400lb's and honestly he played like chit first 2 games. Against denver, when he got pulled for dielman in the 3rd Q, then our offense started to work we.. fonoti was never a good pass blocker, but he was an ok run blocker. we cna do better in the draft I think. ncraider84 10-28-2005, 11:44 AM WR is a need, but I can waitt one more yr to draft a high rounder. I heard about him being a headcase, the injuries, and his family problems. You can't wait another year, lol. I don't blame you! I've been wanting a stud OLB for the past two seasons. Basically, since Barton and Romo left.....we've had a huge void at OLB which Morrison is holding his own but Brayton is not the answer. Neither is Gibson at LB ( in the big nick package yes ) but not long term. Compubolt 10-28-2005, 11:49 AM I heard about him being a headcase, the injuries, and his family problems. Plus, you guys had basically the same until returning this year ( with Jue and the rookies of course ).
