The Pittsburgh Penguins drew an average crowd of 16,172 for six November home games, an increase of 35 percent over November, 2003 – the largest attendance increase of any team in the National Hockey League.

The NHL, rebounding dramatically from a work stoppage that wiped out the 2004-05 season, posted the best November attendance in its 88-year history, attracting 3,346,812 fans to 199 games and setting an attendance record for the second consecutive month. The average NHL crowd in November was 16,818, and league arenas were filled to 91.2 percent capacity.

The Penguins led the way in increased November attendance among individual clubs, followed by Carolina (+26%), Calgary (+24%), Tampa Bay (+24%), Boston (+18%), Florida (+16%), Nashville (+16%) and San Jose (+13%).

The Penguins had standing-room-only sellouts for three of their six home games in November.

Overall this season, the Penguins have drawn an average crowd of 16,036 to their 12 home games – filling Mellon Arena to 94.6 percent of its capacity. They have five standing-room-only sellouts and seven crowds larger than 16,000.
